### La /ʒ/: la /ʃ/ con voz

La /ʒ/ se produce exactamente igual que la /ʃ/, pero **con las cuerdas vocales vibrando**. Es un sonido suave y poco frecuente, y casi nunca aparece al principio de palabra. Si ya controlas la /ʃ/, sólo tienes que añadirle voz.

**Cómo se produce**

- 👄 **Boca:** labios ligeramente redondeados, igual que en la /ʃ/.
- 👅 **Lengua:** cerca del paladar, con un canal estrecho para el aire.
- 🔊 **Voz:** **sonora** — con la mano en la garganta debes notar la vibración.

**Lo oyes en:** _measure_ · _vision_ · _genre_ · _usual_ · _garage_

> ⚠️ **El error típico en español:** quitarle la voz y dejarla en /ʃ/, o convertirla en la _y_ española. _Vision_ no es _vishion_ ni _viyion_.

### The /ʒ/: the /ʃ/ with voice

The /ʒ/ is made exactly like /ʃ/, but **with the vocal cords vibrating**. It's a soft, fairly rare sound, and it almost never appears at the start of a word. If you've got /ʃ/ under control, all you need to add is voice.

**How it's made**

- 👄 **Mouth:** lips slightly rounded, just as for /ʃ/.
- 👅 **Tongue:** close to the palate, with a narrow channel for the air.
- 🔊 **Voice:** **voiced** — with a hand on your throat you should feel the vibration.

**You hear it in:** _measure_ · _vision_ · _genre_ · _usual_ · _garage_

> ⚠️ **The typical Spanish-speaker mistake:** dropping the voice and leaving a /ʃ/, or turning it into the Spanish _y_. _Vision_ is neither _vishion_ nor _viyion_.
